AI Cover Letter Chrome Extension: Tailor It to Every Job Posting

Twenty job applications often means twenty rounds of the same ritual: copy the posting, paste it into a tool, paste your resume, regenerate, reformat. Or, more often, one cover letter sent everywhere. Both show. A Chrome extension removes the copy-pasting, but what makes a good letter is still the method. Here it is by hand first, then with the extension.

Why the letter should start from the posting, not your resume

A letter written from your resume tells your story in order. A letter written from the posting answers the recruiter's real question: can this person do this job? The posting tells you which of your experiences matter and which words to use. It's also why generic AI cover letters get spotted: they know nothing about the role.

The method in 4 steps (by hand)

  1. Find the 2–3 key responsibilities in the posting and note their exact words: “Power BI dashboards”, “customer onboarding”, “SQL analysis”.
  2. For each one, find true proof in your background: a project, an internship, a part-time job, a volunteer role. A well-told project is enough when you're early in your career.
  3. Write one paragraph per proof: the situation, what you did, the result. One real number beats three adjectives.
  4. Use the posting's words in your resume too, where they're true. Many companies screen applications with software before a person reads them (see how to tailor your resume fast).

Done properly, this takes real time for every posting, and that's where most applicants give up.

What the Wrendit Chrome extension does

The Wrendit Chrome extension applies this method on the job posting itself:

  • You save your CV once in Wrendit.
  • On a posting (LinkedIn, Indeed, Welcome to the Jungle and others), a “Tailor with Wrendit” button appears. The side panel reads the posting; you check the title, company and description.
  • You click “Tailor my application”. In about a minute you get a cover letter, a recruiter email, a LinkedIn message, a follow-up email and the edits to make to your CV, with a match score and the keywords you're missing.

It detects whether the posting is in English or French and whether it's an internship. Above all, it doesn't make things up: no invented roles, no fake numbers. It reframes what's true in your CV in the language of the posting, which is steps 1 to 4 above.

What to check before you send anything

Tool or no tool, review with this list:

  • The company name and job title are correct.
  • Every number and fact is true, and you can talk about it in an interview.
  • There's at least one sentence only you could write: a project detail, a specific reason for this company.
  • The tone sounds like you; rewrite anything that doesn't.
  • You've planned a follow-up a week later.

What about privacy?

The extension only reads the posting you're looking at, and only when you open the panel or click its button. It doesn't read your browsing history and sends nothing in the background. You can disconnect it at any time.

The principle is the same with or without a tool: one application tailored to the posting beats ten copy-pasted ones. The extension just removes the repetitive work so you can do it for every job. See the Chrome extension →
